The results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) conducted by the National Examination Board were made public on Thursday. According to the Examination Control Office in Sano Thimi, Bhaktapur, approximately 22,475 students have achieved grades ranging from 3.60 to 4.0 GPA, which accounts for 4.63% of the total number of examinees. This represents a significant increase compared to the previous year.
Exam Results Analysis:
During the SEE, which was conducted from Chaitra 17 to 29, a total of 485,396 students participated. Among them, 22,475 students, or 4.63%, scored between 3.60 and 4.0 GPA. This indicates an increase of 0.63% compared to the previous year when 9,633 students achieved the same grade range.
Changes in Grading System:
The grading system implemented by the National Examination Board allocates different grades based on students’ GPA. According to the grading criteria set in 2072 BS, students scoring between 90 and 100% receive an A+, while those scoring between 80 and 90% receive an A. Similarly, students scoring between 70 and 80%, 60 and 70%, 50 and 60%, 40 and 50%, 30 and 40%, and less than 30% receive grades B+, B, C+, C, D+, D, and E respectively.
In the latest guidelines introduced in 2078 BS, students are required to secure a minimum of 35% marks in theoretical subjects. Additionally, the non-graded system has been introduced for those scoring less than 35% in all subjects.
The announcement of the SEE results has revealed a significant rise in the number of students achieving higher grades, specifically within the GPA range of 3.60 to 4.0. This increase signifies the improved performance and dedication of students in their studies. The new grading system, along with the inclusion of a minimum passing mark for theoretical subjects, aims to encourage students to focus on their overall academic development. It will be interesting to observe how these changes influence the educational landscape in the coming years.
