The National Examination Board has released the results of the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) for the year 2080 B.S. (2023/2024 A.D.), revealing that only 47.86% of students have qualified to pursue higher education in Grade 11. This year’s results paint a concerning picture of student performance, particularly in core subjects.
Key Highlights:
– Total examinees: 464,785
– Students eligible for Grade 11: 222,472 (47.86%)
– Students failing to qualify: 242,313 (52.14%)
The results show that Mathematics remains the most challenging subject for students, with the highest number of failures. Science and English follow closely, indicating a need for improved teaching strategies in these core subjects.
Grade Distribution:
– 186 students achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA
– 31,209 students scored between 3.60 and 4.0 GPA
– The majority of passing students (78,874) scored between 2.80 and 3.20 GPA
The examination board has introduced a new grading system this year, requiring students to score a minimum of 35% in theory and 40% in practical assessments to pass each subject. Students failing in up to two subjects will have an opportunity to appear for grade improvement exams on Shrawan 18 and 19 (August 2-3, 2024).
For the first time, the board has also implemented an online re-totaling system, allowing students to apply for result verification within 15 days of result publication without having to visit the board’s office physically.
These results underscore the need for a comprehensive review of the education system, particularly in core subjects, to better prepare students for higher education and future careers.
