Natural Remedies for Viral Fever: Using Herbs and Spices

Viral infections can be a common disease for both adults and children, especially in times of climate change. Many viral diseases, such as the common cold and the flu, are contracted from the air we breathe and can potentially be spread by infected people. Symptoms of a viral infection often include a mild fever or low-grade fever. However, there are natural remedies that can help ease the symptoms of viral fever. Some of these include:

Honey and ginger tea

The anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and analgesic properties of ginger can help relieve pain and reduce symptoms of viral fever. Honey, with its strong antibacterial properties, can also help treat coughs and reduce the severity of infections. To make the tea, steep grated ginger in water for a few minutes, strain the mixture and add honey.

Black pepper

This spice is high in vitamin C and has antibacterial and antibiotic properties that can help relieve respiratory conditions and support a strong immune system.

Ajwain

Indian traditional medicine often uses ajwain, or carom seeds, as a natural remedy for colds and coughs. The seeds contain anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that can help alleviate the symptoms of respiratory infections.

Fennel

This spice has potent antiviral properties and can help strengthen the immune system to aid in recovery from chronic fever.

Tulsi tea

The volatile oils found in tulsi leaves, including eugenol, citronellol, and linalool, can help reduce inflammation. The leaves also have potent antibacterial, germicidal, antibiotic, and fungicidal properties that can help decrease the symptoms of viral fever.
